Around 1200 AD a part of Rajasthan came under Muslim rulers. The prime centers of their powers were Ajmer and Nagpur. At the beginning of 13the century AD, the most powerful and well-known state of Rajasthan was Mewar.

In this era, Rajasthan was dominated by Mughal Emperor-Akbar. The great Mughal ruler created a united region of Rajasthan. In the year 1707, the supremacy of Mughal power started to collapse. The Marathas made a way into this state and they occupy Ajmer in year 1755. The starting of 19th century was marked by ambush of Pindaris. In 1817-18, the British government united every province and then it called Rajputana.
